LoRaWAN has emerged as the ‘dominant alternative’ Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) technology, counterbalancing 3GPP alternatives. The LoRaWAN ecosystem worldwide has been slowly but surely developing and strengthening in recent years. Coverage in some geographies is good, and the technology is well-suited for deployment in private networks. In this report we review LoRaWAN’s technology capabilities, examine the current status of network deployment, and discuss emerging risks and challenges.
