In July 2023 Transforma Insights published a forecast of our expectations of the adoption of different approaches to Remote SIM Provisioning (RSP), with a particular motivation to assess the likely growth of the SGP.32 standard, the arrival of which was imminent. Fast forward three years and the standard has only just been finalised with fully standards-compliant solutions being launched into the market in 2026. Having had our fingers burnt on forecasting this space in 2023 we have waited until now before providing an update on the expected adoption. This report provides our view of the overall adoption of SGP.32 alongside the other existing RSP standards SGP.02 and SGP.22, the use of which will be affected by the growing adoption of the latest standard. The report provides our expectations of the proportions of shipments of cellular-based IoT connections that will use each of those three technology standards, as well as the overall adoption of standards-based RSP. We include our methodology, which is based on a assessment of the likely use of each of the three standards across the hundreds of different applications included in our IoT Forecast Database.
